"The Truth About Calcium"
"My hip hurts and when I put any weight on it it feels like it's going to shatter, crumble, break!!!!" She's only 45 years old and is crumbling like approximately 30 million people in the U.S....Unfortunately, 50,000 women die from fractures related to osteoporosis in this country each year. We have more osteoporotic fractures in this country than any other place on earth and yet we consume more "calclium" than any other country in the world and 34 million Americans have low bone mass. We are crumbling as a nation. There is a panic in this country as Doctors watch women's fragile frames deteriorate before there eyes as they continue to rescribe the meds that were suppose to be the answer to there pain riddled prayers. These women slide into a state of "acidosis" where the body maintains a chronic low-grade state of high acid and low oxygenation. This is the perfect environment for disease to manifest in the body. Keep in mind that our "alkalai reserves" originate IN THE BONES. This reserve is the level of ineralization that keeps our bones strong and the body relies on when you don't have enough of these precious minerals on a daily basis. If you take too much out without making daily deposits (through a diet rich in greens, alfalfa, kudzu, beet root,...and supplementation), that is when the alarms start to blow and the body starts to fall apart. Calcium is the GLUE that holds the body together hands down.

We were taught that calcium, as the most abundant mineral in the body, is one of the hardest to absorb. When we ingest rocks, shells, stones, chalk, bones (the calcium most ingest)-that statement would be very accurate. Because, you see, a hard inert mineral is like debri in the body. The body doesn't recognize it completely and thus may partially be able to utilize it but it ultimately may lay as waste debri in the body or finally find its way out of the body not making that deposit to the "bone bank" like we needed it to.

So what's the answer? As simple as it seems-our precious plants use the hard minerals from the earth and through proper water, sunshine and love they create make those hard minerals usable for us. As a matter of fact, a plant can speak the right language to our body and has this amazing wisdom to know where to go in the body to nourish, strengthen and heal the body as needed. It's no co-incidence that the plants highest in calcium, also seem to have the other co-factors that are needed for ideal absorption, utilization and retention of these vitamins and minerals. In 1999, Gunter Bloebel won a nobel prize for his research in these wonderful "co-factors" that only come form whole, live foods. "Co-factors" are the arms and legs of the protein nutrients in these plants that know just where to go to nourish, heal, and strengthen the body. They don't react like a drug in the body like "isolated" (meaning stripped of the co-factor nutrients) nutrients do. Isolated nutrients rely on whole, real, live foods to interact with to create their chemical reaction. If you didn't eat well while ingesting those pills-guess what? You probably have made a deposit to your "gallstone or kidney stone bank" rather than the cells which make up the glands, organs, tissue, veins, arteries, bone,...in the body. Most people find it very hard to consume real, live foods in there diet. This is quite alarming but true. Fruits and vegetables are alive-pasta is dead. The sauce on it may have life sources though.

Who has the strongest bones on Earth? Elephants. Not because of their massive bone structure but because of their wonderful diet. Funny enough, they love bamboo! Bamboo is rich in silica. You've probably heard how important silica is to the body. Silica forms the body and is a carrier of water and nutrients. Horse tail and Oatstraw silica (about 8% silica) have had studies which indicate their ability to bring nutrients into the bone due to their silica content. Consider this: Bamboo silica can have about 75% silica in it and is believed to be the reason elephants have amazing, supple, flexible bones even into old age. They do not have brittle bones and crumble with their massive weight as they age. They have incredible bone integrity because of the wonderful diet and their weight may be a blessing as "weight bearing exercise can build strong bones when you have the right ingredients in the body."

Silica alone can't give the body the nutrients it needs to build a strong body. Whole foods rich in calcium also needed magnesium, vitamin D ("liquid sunshine"- vitamin D from plants have no problem absorbing, boron (not "boric acid" from rocks that kills roaches), zinc, potassium, phosphorous, lysine,....many co-factors go into making a strong, beautiful bone and they can "only" come from real foods not rocks, stones, shells, bones, and chalk.

When investing in a strong foundation in your body, choose wisely as calcium and all the co-factors needed that come from whole foods "are that foundation" to hold you up, keep you strong even into your "golden years."
